Time for the Holidays

It's December 1st.  That means only 24 days until Christmas!  I am very excited about the holidays and for taking G home to celebrate with my family.  I just love home at this time of the year, and how the house smells like pine!

We will also be celebrating Jamie's 30th birthday, so that is exciting!  Sadly, she found out accidentally that it was going to be a surprise, but it will still be a party!  She officially turns 30 on January 5th, but we decided to do it a little earlier.  Too bad she found out about the surprise, but now Greg won't have to be so sly!

No trip home is complete in the winter without a stop at Bristol Mountain.  A day with skiing is a must while I am home.  I miss the slopes so much!  Hopefully a few friends will be able to join us on Christmas Eve day.  Nothing like skiing all day, then going home to eating really good food and desserts.

I'm counting down the days until I am home.  21 days left.

Officially a Lawyer!

Well after much anxiety and many sleepless nights wondering if I'd pass the bar, I can say that TODAY I am officially an attorney!  I've got a license to practice law in the State of Georgia!  You can find my name in the "Great Book of Attorneys" in the Richmond County Clerk's Office!

An Easy Humpday

No, it's not what you are thinking, get your mind out of the gutter.  I am talking about humpday, Wednesday, as in the work week is halfway over.  Considering I don't have a job, everyday is humpday for me, but for my man and the rest of the working world, humpday makes the rest of the week easier.

It felt like fall on humpday:  blustery and dark.  It was the perfect day to stay inside and cozy up on the couch with our delivery pizza and our redbox movie.  We opted for Bridesmaids, everyone had told us that it was hilarious, so we wanted to see what the hype was about.

The movie was not that funny.  It was the typical love story / jealous of your BFF for getting married story.  These bitches were terribly disgusting.  I'd never behave like the MOH did at the wedding shower, throwing a fit and dropping F-bombs everywhere.  Suck it up and deal with it for your friend's big day.  And, gross, the bridesmaid's dress fitting, it seriously made me want to vomit.  Definitely not slap stick humor, Bridesmaids went more for the gross out moments.

Maybe I hated this movie so much because I hate being a bridesmaid.  I don't enjoy all that being a bridesmaid entails.  I'd rather just show up to the wedding as a great friend and guest to enjoy the party and celebrating another couple's love!  Isn't that what weddings are all about anyway?  It's not the presents, nor the dresses.  It's about two people falling in love and beginning their life together!

My Fall Manicure

Some will call it gothic, but I call it beautiful.  It's no secret to anyone who knows me that I love dark nail polish.  Although I seem like a girly girl, I like to keep my manicure away from the nude or pink colors.  There's barely a time when I'll choose a light color over a dark one, unless it is spring time.

My favorite brand of nail lacquer is OPI.  I love the way it just covers the nail in just one stroke.  It really is amazing how much better OPI covers than the cheap drugstore brand.  I always spring for OPI because it doesn't crack or chip easily.  Usually at Ulta Beauty Store you can snag a deal on OPI, buy 2 get 1 free.

I always opt for the at-home manicure, mainly because I think it is a waste of money to pay someone what I can easily do on my own.  You need the essential tools, like a cuticle clipper and some base coat and top coat, and you're ready to go!

The colors that I love right now are:  Eiffel for This Color (a wine shimmer) and Midnight in Moscow (charcoal with maroon glimmer).

I just love how the sun hits these colors on your nails and give you that unexpected shimmer.

One Year Later, October 15

I would have never guessed when I started off my final year in law school, I'd soon be dating one of my friends.  What started out as a weekend in Athens for the Georgia Arkansas game to get away from law school turned into one weekend that will be one of my favorite memories.  Last minute, we had decided to head up from Macon for just a weekend of bourbon drinking and fall football.  It turned into dancing all night at the 8e's Bar, attending the tailgate, suffering the in the sweltering heat at the game which we lost, napping for an hour, and then doing it all over again that night at the local watering holes.  It was tough to recover from that weekend, but totally worth every second.  Garon and his two girls, Lauren and me, beginning the fall right.

The next weekend I had already planned to visit my college roommate, Leeza, in Savannah.  Luckily for me, she wanted more the merrier.  I had invited many to attend the Jazz Festival but it happened to be that only Garon decided to visit her with me.  It was such a fun time.  I exposed him to a different side of Savannah, one that included gay karaoke bars.  Believe it or not, at that very bar on River Street is where we first kissed!
Nashville
It was supposed to be a secret, but it turned out that it was no kept very well.  All of our friends knew that we were seeing each other, yet none of them were so willing to call us out on it.  Thankfully, when we decided to tell everyone, they already knew, so it was no big deal!

My surprise delivery while Garon is out of town for a bachelor party and missing our one year!  For some reason I think Buster and Timber were both in on the surprise, they barely even barked when the delivery man rang the doorbell.
Two dozen red roses!
Now one year later, I can say that I am happier than ever!  It's been a long but exciting year, and I am excited to see what the future holds for us!
